I am originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico but moved to Winter Springs, FL, which is a suburb northeast of Orlando. Growing up I had a very typical Central Floridian upbringing. Father was an Attorney; mother was a Teacher. Remember many trips to Disney, Epcot, Universal Studios, water parks, natural springs, and of course all the beach trips we could handle. I went to Catholic High School in Orlando and as soon as I could drive, I started spending my weekends, when not stocking shelves at Winn-Dixie, at the beach. I am an avid boogie boarder, different from surfing, have 4 different size boogie boards.
Throughout my professional and academic career, I was fortunate to do some traveling. Visiting places like Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Hawaii. Hawaii, such a beautiful state. I asked my wife to marry me in Hawaii on the same beach my mother grew up at for several years as a young Army Brat, Ewa Beach. My Grandfather was an Officer in the Army Special Forces Green Beret who shortly passed after leaving Hawaii and restationed in Puerto Rico and deployed to Vietnam.
My wife is my best friend; she is why we originally left Florida and moved to Colorado as she was offered an amazing opportunity as a People & Culture Manager for an international travel and leisure company headquarters in Denver. My wife and I not only are best friends, but we are also colleagues and mentor each other, helping each other sharpen our craft. We fell in love with Colorado because COVID cancelled our trip to Tahiti, but we were determined to take our Honeymoon/1 year anniversary trip. We understood we had to go somewhere close to Florida and somewhere we could do outside activities. So, we travelled to Colorado and drove the state for a little over a week. From Denver south to Victor through the Rockies to Aspen, Breckenridge, Vail, and West to Grand Junction and stayed in a Teepee in Loma. Ending our trip back in Denver and last night we were here were able to catch a show at Red Rocks and saw Jimmy Buffet last show there 16 rows up. Fantastic time.
Since leaving Colorado, opportunity brought me back to the East Coast and now relocated from rural Virginia to the Richmond metropolitan area where there is more opportunity and closer to family, airports, hobbies. I have continued my journey, taking my professional goals to the highest level. I am a candid person, I am comfortable making myself vulnerable in hopes of connecting with someone else and helping them solve problems, move mountains, or make them smile.
I hope I get the chance to share more of myself and how I can be a reliable asset to your organization.
